ALS Biofluid Collection

The ALS Biofluid Program at Columbia is focused on the collection of blood plasma and serum, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid from ALS patients and healthy individuals for distribution to ALS investigators at academic institutions and industry partners around the world. The goal of this project is to make patient materials available to scientists interested in identifying biomarkers of disease that can be followed as a measure of disease progression and response to therapy. Biofluids are also needed to identify pathways of disease that contribute to neurodegeneration in ALS. This program is supported by the ALS Association.
